The Case for a Credit Union in Concho

Concho Springs Federal Credit Union

Apache County earlier this year experienced a huge loss with the closing of the St Johns Bank of the West branch. This financial institution was a major need within the community of St Johns and Concho, yet the bank could not see it. This has led to major problems for existing and new businesses, along with residents, in having to travel further for bank services.

In Concho, the need for a bank is critical in giving residents a place to bank, obtain loans for cars & homes and utilize programs available to rural lending institutions to assist homeowners in building and repair. A local banking source for businesses as well will encourage new and existing businesses to use the credit union in order to handle business needs without needing to transport money distantly to Show Low, Springerville or Snowflake.

In order to establish a credit union, we need a minimum of 250 returned surveys either for or against the formation of a credit union. From this stage, a charter can be applied for from the National Credit Union Association and the bank can begin operations in the community.

If you are interested in joining the credit union, please click on the survey link to download/print, fill out and return to us. You must be live, work worship or volunteer in Concho or anywhere in Apache County to be eligible. This includes immediate family as well. Businesses are also welcomed to join.

If you would be interested in sponsoring the credit union, feel free to contact us with your formal donation commitment via email or postal mail. Please do not send checks at this time. We will advise when we can start taking payments from clients and sponsors.
