Incorporate Concho

Concho is an unincorporated area of Apache County Arizona that sees little funding coming in to make improvements within the area. As such, there is a need to explore the opportunity to incorporate portions of Old Concho and Concho Valley into a municipality that is eligible for funds to help make improvements to streets, services and facilities within the community.

It is important to recognize the pros and cons for incorporation to make a well informed vote for this movement.

The Pros
  • Money to work directly into the community rather than shared with other unincorporated areas
  • Local government for residents without the need to travel outside the city for services
  • Direct citizen participation and local employment
  • Access to other sources of revenue including state shared revenue, local tax and grants for municipalities
  • No need to raise property taxes to pay for city services immediately, if at all

The Cons
  • Expense of local government to maintain city services
  • No county involvement in planning, zoning and street services
  • Not all residents of Concho will be in city limits, thus will still rely on county services
  • CC&R subdivisions are still subject to deed restrictions
